With the “COMPAS” project AIT, Bombardier and Mission Embedded shape the intelligent tramway of the future. The Austrian Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology honored this innovation with the National Award for Mobility 2019, category “Forschen. Entwickeln. Neue Wege weisen.” (“Research, development, new approaches”).
The National Award for Mobility is the highest honor awarded by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology to Austrian companies and institutions. The award goes to innovative concepts, products and solutions that stimulate the competitiveness of Austrian high tech sectors relevant to transport and mobility, and show new approaches for future-proof mobility.
As technology integrator, Mission Embedded acts as the missing link between research and industry. “With our know-how in embedded, wireless, safety and security, sensing, machine vision and AI we turn ideas and research into innovative products – in cooperation with our customers. Our mission are reliable, custom-fit solutions. We make sure that our customers get marketable products within a short period of time”, explains Michael Kreilmeier, CEO. “We are particularly pleased when our customers, with our support, win awards such as this one.”
The goal of the COMPAS project is to increase the safety of tramways by utilizing the newest scientific approaches. The Overspeed Prevention System is based on optical 3D sensors, warning the driver of imminent danger and and when appropriate automatically breaking the vehicle. Mission Embedded was responsible for the system development, sensor integration and industrialization, making sure that newly developed technologies are already deployed and contribute daily to increasing safety in railway transportation. Together with our project partners AIT (Austrian Institute of Technology) and Bombardier Transportation the system is developed and produced in Vienna. It is, therefore, a high-tech solution made in Austria.
Mission Embedded develops and supplies high-reliability embedded systems for professional applications in the fields of transportation, industry, air traffic control and medical technology.
