Compliance with the EU AI Act
With the ISO/IEC 42001 certification, Mission Embedded assures its customers that their AI-based solutions meet key requirements of the EU AI Act, passed by the European Commission in spring 2024, regarding the responsible use of new technologies – especially in the areas of transparency, safety, reliability, and ethics. This is particularly important for companies in the field of critical infrastructures.
World’s First Standard for AI Management Systems
ISO/IEC 42001:2023 is the first global standard for AI management systems, establishing clear guidelines for the responsible development, operation, and use of AI technologies. It ensures that AI systems are managed transparently, ethically, and without bias. Moreover, the standard offers a systematic framework for managing the risks, opportunities, and impacts associated with artificial intelligence.
AI Systems of Highest Standards
Mission Embedded’s products and solutions empower companies to design smarter infrastructures while enhancing the safety and efficiency of their operations. These include driver assistance systems for rail vehicles and AI-powered solutions for air traffic control and safety monitoring.
Michael Kreilmeier, Managing Director of Mission Embedded, stated: “With the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, companies must trust that their providers develop and implement AI to the highest standards. We are proud to be the first company in Austria and the EU in the field of critical infrastructure solutions to achieve ISO 42001 certification, offering this assurance to our customers globally. Independent audits and certifications are essential to continuously optimizing our processes – particularly in the important area of AI. The CIS team has been an excellent partner on this journey, providing outstanding expertise and a demanding yet effective approach.”
The audit of Mission Embedded was conducted by CIS – Certification & Information Security Services GmbH, a leading global provider of auditing, compliance, and certification services, particularly in the field of critical infrastructures (notably NIS2). The audit covered numerous aspects, including data analysis and management, data protection, risk analysis and mitigation, AI training methods, transparency, quality assurance, and third-party management.
